The Brother's of the Brush mustache and beard competition which is held each fall, is a lot of fun so start growing your whiskers to participate and The Chili Cook-Off in January, it is cold and the football season is over so make a pot; there are several categories so there is something for everyone. The most impressive feat the Ogre has accomplished is growing some of the worlds hottest pepper varieties. National Photography Exhibition

The Allegany Arts Council is putting out the call for entries and the deadline is Feb. 27, 2017 so be sure to enter to win over $5,000 in cash prizes. The Juror of this prestigious competition is Shannon Thomas Perich, she is the curator of historic photography at the Smithsonian.There are several events scheduled celebrating photography month. The ever popular kids photo boot camp is happening April 1, 2017 space is limited so call the Arts Council to grab your spot. The Allegany Museum is hosting a "history in your attic" a photo retrospective for the entire month, featuring old photography of our region. The month would not be complete without a Robert Hine Gallery talk which will take place later in the month. Women's March on Washington: Betsey Hurwitz-Schwab
